I have a virus...

....or....my computer has a virus. How sad!! So if I'm not here it's because my brother in law is fixing it. He's nice like that from time to time. Actually, he is a computer technician as a PROFESSIONAL CALLING, and so he knows what he is doing. Yay!! Thanks, Josh!!

Interview

Today, I had a phone interview with a missions board. I got off the phone with them at 8am, and they said they would be back in contact with me in a day or two about coming there for a face-to-face visit.
I got an e-mail from them today, asking if I would come out for an interview.WOW!! Talk about excited!! I have been praying that the Lord would open up a door for me in full-time Christian service, and it appears He may have done just that.
I would appreciate your prayers -- that the Mission Board and myself follow the Lord's leading in this decision, and that if I get offered the job, that the Lord would provide a little extra financing so I can move down there.
Overall, though, I am really excited about this opportunity. WE have had missionaries in and out of our home "ever since", and I am thrilled about the possiblity of doing this type of thing for a living.
So, how was YOUR day??

Tagged AGAIN!!

Ha! So I was looking at some comments on one of my posts and saw that Grandma Scraps and Stacy W had tagged me, too. Sorry I missed those, gals!

Who me? Tagged??? NO way....

...but nevertheless, it is true. My friend Karis Seely tagged me....yeah, on TUESDAY!! Hello....I guess someone was sleeping, huh? Well, here are eight random facts about me.
1. I LOVE SHOES, SHOPPING FOR SHOES AND TRYING ON SHOES.....but if you come to my house, I'm barefoot. Yeah, love shoes....hate wearing them. Karis -- I probably have at least 30 pairs of shoes.

2. My first job was working for Sonic Drive-In, as a carhop. Yeah....it's one of those jobs that gets more and more glamorous as the time goes on. I guess it was fun while it lasted, but I sure wouldn't want to do it again!!

3. I used to have a "Growth" on the end of my tongue. It looked like a tongue ring -- several people even asked me if I had one. ICK!! Fortunately, though, I had it removed a couple of years ago, when I had my wisdom teeth extracted. Funny thing, though....I still want to "play" with it sometimes. WAAAAAAT?????

4. Mom and I went shopping in Appleton, WI, this weekend. It was really nice. WE drove there...it's about 2 hours away....on Friday night and stayed at the Hilton Hotel. Very nice. WE sat in the hot tub for a while and relaxed. Then, we went shopping on Saturday. We were both looking for some "Churchy" clothes. I found quite a bit. Mom didn't find anything. That's the way it goes sometimes, I guess.

5. I have a cat. Her name is Wonka. She is this funny tan color of cat...not yellow or orange, but really almost khaki...with a white tip on her tail. She is actually curled up on my bed beside me right now, sleeping. Aren't cat's lovely things? Yeah yeah...I know....the crazy cat lady...whatever....humor me. I don't have any kids.

6. I was born in South Carolina, grew up in Mississippi, where we lived until I was in about 10th grade, then moved to Kansas, I went to college in South Carolina, then my family moved to Wisconsin. I've also lived in Virginia for a few months, the year after I graduated college. So, I've kind of lived all over the place.

7. Karis Seely (the one who tagged me) and I were pen pals in Jr. High and High School. Our moms went to college at Bob Jones University together, and that is how we became acquainted. I didn't actually meet Karis until I was in VA Beach for a while. My sister, Shannon, knows her better than I do. Isn't it funny how things come full circle sometimes? I always think the steps from one person to another are interesting.

8. One of the craziest things that has ever happened to me -- this is a FUNNY story!! Ok so, I was engaged a year and a half ago (don't worry, I'm not bitter....although I did get dumped in October, on my birthday, and our wedding date was set for December....anyways...). So, I sold my wedding dress on E-Bay...or at least I thought I had sold it. The purchase price was $400 plus shipping and handling. That wasn't too bad. SO, I get a money order in the mail for $3,000. The person who bought the dress...who was from the UK....wanted me to cash the money order and send him the balance back. YEAH RIGHT!! SO I called the cops, and apparently it was some big scam. There have been several like that around -- motel rooms, stuff like that. But it was odd. Hmmm....anyone need a money order?? About that time, I saw a card challenge on www.splitcoaststampers.com to make up your own holida. SO here's the card I came up with:

And there you have it....some random facts about Melinda. I tag the following people:
....so that's not eight, but those are all of the blogs I check on a regular basis. Sorry, guys.
Karis, thanks for tagging me. This was fun!!

Not your typical 27 year old....

.....because, apparently, I should have been born in 1955!!

Well, it was a fun quiz, at least....

Cynthia Esther Smith

Here is what my sister has to say about her BABY GIRL. I, personally am SUPER excited that it's a niece. And I love the name -- so pretty. Great job, Josh and Shannon!!

It was really exciting to see pictures of Cynthia again. I think she is beautiful!! AND Shannon had some really cool video clips of the ultrasound too. There was one of her heart beating --wow-- and another of her moving. You can see all of Cynthia's little bones -- her spinal column, rib cage-- how neat!! Ultrasounds are just super cool!

And in honor of my new niece, here is a little girl card I stamped a while back. I have been too busy to stamp lately, and I know my toys all miss me!!

Thanks for looking. Have a great weekend!!

Dawn, I updated my blog!!

HI, friends!! Sorry I have been so quiet. I haven't had much time for anything lately, and updating my blog has been on the very bottom of my to-do list. Most recently, the Lord has brought to my attention how blessed I am to have been raised in a Christian family.

There is a gal who goes to our church, who only comes occasionally. Well, to make a long story short -- I watched her 3 kids (3rd grade, 2nd grade, 1 year old) this past Thursday night, and then on Friday when her son (third grade!) figured out he was going to spend the night with me again, he ran away. So, it was a busy BUSY weekend!! I feel sorry for the kids. They are caught in between a welfare-mentality mom and a dad who is in and out of jail.

Well, the kid finally came home Friday night. By then it was almost 5:30, and I was expecting 8 guests for dinner. Wow -- talk about hectic!! We didn't eat until around 8pm. But, it was fun. The girls were good. The second grader was a HUGE help to me getting the house straightened up. I was so proud of her! The baby was pretty well behaved, too, which was nice.

So all of that to say this --

MOM AND DAD, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RAISIN' US RIGHT!! and for loving us and taking care of us while we were growing up, and for love and support during adulthood (mistakes and all!!).

So, what's been going on with you??
