Blog Candy Contest -- Winner Announced....

....on Sunday, April 1. So, you have a few more days to make that monochromatic card we talked about before (see blog candy anouncement post).

I decided to make an altered clipboard for this. A.M. (ambouth on SCS) told me I should make one with pink and orange. So, that is what I did. I hope you enjoy. I posted this pic of the front, but the back is decorated, too...I just didn't take a pic of that. I left the clipboard fairly plain, so it could also be used at work or something.

Thanks for looking...have a great weekend!!

I'm a WINNER!!!

I can't believe it!! There is something called Virtual Stamp Night (VSN) on the SCS website every month or two months. There are challenges posted all night on Friday, and all day on Saturday. Then, the hostesses of the challenges pick 5 or 6 winners for their challenges. I won!! I am so excited -- I've never won anything before!!!

VSN this time was vacation themed -- so the challenge was to create a card that would highlight or use an article of clothing one would wear on vacation. I based my card on a lei, and I love the way it turned out!!!

I love the Sketch Challenge!!

Every week on SCS (Splitcoast Stampers) there are challenges for each day of the week. The Wednesday challenge has always been my favorite. It is a card sketch, or layout, and really lets the imagination fly. So far, I have done two for this week's SC....and I love them! It is interesting to see how differently two cards from the same basic idea can turn out. One card I did with some stamped images I recieved in the mail. The set is called Bugs N Kisses, and I adore it! Sooo cute!! The other card -- I wanted to try a black and white card. But, I kind of got bogged down without a third color, so I chose Pretty In Pink. It is a very nice, light color, and really popps out the contrast of the Black and White, and softens it up quite a bit.

Thanks for looking! I hope you have a fabulous day!

Jobs and Blog Candy...

I hope your weekend was as good as mine!! I had a pretty good one, considering I got a job and all. YAY!!! I think there will be some working of Sundays involved, but they rotate, so I'm hoping only once a month or so, and then I should be able to go to Sunday School, skip the AM service, and then be back for choir practice and Sunday pm service. That's the plan right now, anyways. Today, I went for a drug screen and they ahve to do a background check. So, the HR guy said he hopes to have all of the information and paperwork back by Wed. or Thurs., and then orientation on Friday. I am really hoping to be able to start on Monday. Thanks for your prayers...God is GOOD!!

And for the blog candy --
my CANDY will be an altered clipboard, like the ones shown above (but not these...I gave them away already!!). To answer some questions:
  • When you upload a card, please post it on your own blog or on your SCS gallery. Then, paste the link into a comment on the BLOG CANDY ANNOUNCEMENT post.
  • You may e-mail me the links if you want, or the card, and I can upload it for you.
  • You may submit a card you have previously made, if you want to.

Mostly, I just want this to be fun, fun, fun!!!

Thanks for playing, gals!!

Winter in Wisconsin....

Wow - let me tell you something: winter in Wisconsin can be a real booger. It was 65 degrees on Tuesday afternoon....IN MARCH....and the snow was melting rapidly. Talk about puddles! We had some big ones. Last night (Thursday) we got about half an inch of snow. This is crazy country we live in.

To top it off....my Christmas Cactus is blooming. It has fuschia blooms, and is it ever pretty. So, to commemorate the occasion, I took a couple of pictures. My friend Peggy (SmallPigPig for you SCSers) is having a photo contest on HER BLOG to win some Blog Candy. The Contest is to take pictures representing spring. I took the Christmas Cactus outside on the deck, and this is what I came up with. I'm not a photographer, by any means, but at least I gave it a shot -- HAH!! PUN INTENDED!!!

I hope you have a great weekend. I have a Stampin' Up! workshop on Saturday. The hostess is expecting 24 people. SO, I am off to create cards for that. Catch ya later, dude!!

Good Ole Golden Rule Days

So...I've been thinking about college. Actaully, I've been thinking about applying to Bob Jones University, my alma matter, to work on staff there.

I was browsing their website and found the University Creed. Wow!! Talk about memories! We recited the creed in chapel every day. Bla bla bla, right?? Well...not really, no. When I stopped to think about it....wow!! What a statement of faith!!

University Creed

I believe in the inspiration of the Bible (both the Old and the New Testaments); the creation of man by the direct act of God; the incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; His identification as the Son of God; His vicarious atonement for the sins of mankind by the shedding of His blood on the cross; the resurrection of His body from the tomb; His power to save men from sin; the new birth through the regeneration by the Holy Spirit; and the gift of eternal life by the grace of God.

Mostly Flowers

Well...here I am again. I've been so busy, there hasn't been much time for stamping. But....I didn't have to go to work on Thursday because it was a snow day. So, I got to stamp most of the day. I will have to post one of my creations soon....but they are not quite ready yet. I just wanted to keep my blogging habit (the newly developing one) active. Besides, the cards I made are for my secret sister. So....in honor of Stamping Days -- here is one of my older creations.
I have always liked this card. It is inspired by those things you see at Wal-Mart - the ones with the Peace Lillies and the Chineese Fighting fish. I love those!! SO I decided to make it into a card.
Enjoy!! Have a great week.....
